From the beginning of SARS-CoV 2 (COVID 19) pandemic, Functional Genomics Core and Prisma Health Department of Internal Medicine (Chair Dr. Albreht) start testing Prisma Health Care Professionals, to monitor the epidemiological situation and improve personal wellbeing. The Core purified viral RNA from nasopharyngeal swab and spit (saliva and sputum) samples and determined the virus load in the samples by RT-qPCR and LAMP isothermal amplification. To determine virus evolution and transmission routes, we are sequencing virus genomes from positive samples. Now, to support research and community projects, FGC offers virus detection and sequencing services to fight the pandemic.

The FGC lab is not CLIA certified. The tests are for research projects only.
COBRE Center for Targeted Therapeutics

The COBRE Center for Targeted Therapeutics (CTT) was created to attract and foster the professional development of talented junior scientists who are motivated to make a difference in the treatment of debilitating diseases.

Collaborative Research

Targeted therapeutics is research that seeks to develop new and more effective classes of drugs against various diseases by aiming these drugs at molecular and cellular targets that play a key role in the disease. This topic was chosen because of its societal impact, the emergence of common technologies driving therapeutics research in different disease areas and the presence of a critical core of senior faculty with broad acumen and transdisciplinary vision in targeted therapeutics.

Resource Cores

The Center for Targeted Therapeutics includes three resource cores including the Functional Genomics Core, the Drug Design and Synthesis Core and the Microscopy and Flow Cytometry Core .

Functional Genomics Core

The Functional Genomics Core Facility offers state-of-the-art resources and solutions for conducting genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics and functional genomics projects.
FGC works with researchers to determine project goals and design custom solutions. FGC assists at all stages of the projects, from support in grant development to generation of publication-quality data.
